Yesterday Sydney asked Nash to get her a butter horn while we were at Starbucks. When he explained that they were too messy to eat in the car, she said, "If you get me a butter horn, I'll give you five bucks."
When that didn't work, she told him that if he didn't get her one, she was never giving him five bucks. Isn't 3 year old negotiation a crack up?
We pulled in to my parents' driveway in Redondo Beach, CA at about 7pm last night. Terryn, who is 9 months old today, was hungry, had a wet diaper and was pretty tired. Not the kind of combination that makes for a fun car ride for anyone involved :-). Sydney had not slept all day. Once she sets her mind to something...
She did, however, get 4 semi-trucks to honk their horns! So much fun! She would also want me to let you all know that she put on a life-jacket and swam all by herself in the pool yesterday. Those of you who know her are aware of what a huge deal it is for her to put a life-jacket on. And we all said, "Hallelujah!"
Today we are planning on going to a car museum. They just opened a Ferrari exhibit, so y'all know it took Nash about .2 seconds to decide that we needed to go there. He is also stoked that Ferrari took 3rd & 4th in today's F1 race. It's a good day for Nash :-).
Then we will be stopping at Pink's (www.pinkshollywood.com) for some stellar hot dogs! This will, of course, be one of the major highlights of my trip. If you're not familiar with Pink's, you should be! I will be ordering the "Lord of the Rings" dog. It has BBQ sauce and onion rings on it. They also have fake cheese which I'll be dipping my fries in. Dee-lish!
Speaking of highlights, I had a cherry limeade at Sonic Drive-in a couple days ago. This is one of those things you know God was involved in creating, cause it's so dang good!
We are in Sacramento with Nahshon's aunt, uncle & 3 cousins. Sydney (our 3 year old) is having a girls only party with the 2 high school age girls in one of the bedrooms. She is such a hoot!
Yesterday we saw trucks full of such crazy things - fire hydrants, props from wind turbines & crab pots. Sydney also learned what to do to get the truck drivers to honk, but she has yet to get their attention. And we tried to find as many colors in the sunset as we could. It is great to just be together!
Any funny vacation/road trip/kid stories you want to share would be good times.
Later!
